Voluma, Radiesse or both? Morristown, New Jersey.

Voluma is the new filler on the market and it is made to enhance the cheek volume and fullness. I am using several fillers in my practice in Morristown New Jersey and this is a welcome addition to our armamentarium. I generally use Restylane for the lips, eyelids, tear through and to fill larger wrinkles. I use Belotero for the fine lines like the vertical lines in the upper lip. Radiesse and Perlane are used in the nasolabial folds and to volumize the cheeks. Radiesse was my go to filler for restoring volume to the cheeks, chin and performing chin and cheek augmentation. Voluma is an HA (hyaluronic acid) like Restylane, but it is made in such a way to be more cohesive and produce more tissue lift. This makes Voluma a good choice for correcting volume deficiencies of the cheeks and the mid face. The big question is: Is Voluma more effective than Radiesse in the cheek area, which one lasts longer and which is a safer filler. I have been using my blunt micro-cannula technique and adapted it to injecting Voluma. This minimizes the discomfort of the injection and produces no bruising. The procedure has produced drastic results in the cheeks immediately. I need more time to determine if this lasts longer than Radiesse. Voluma is a bit easier to inject as it is already mixed with lidocaine. It gives me a bit of comfort knowing that it is an HA that can be dissolved with hyaluronidase. This is an advantage even though I have never had any issues with Radiesse injections as I always inject it deep. All I can say at this time is that I like the product and soon I will know if this is the only filler I would be using for the cheeks and mid face augmentation or is it going to be yet another filler with it’s own application in my practice.
