The facelift operation includes many steps that are learned over the years of training from teachers and mentors. Most plastic surgeons follow those recipes to perform the procedure. There are however steps that are less effective in producing the desired results but are sometime very invasive and produce more swelling, bruising, sometimes bleeding and other complications. After many years of experience Dr Rafizadeh is able to avoid the riskier maneuvers and do what is absolutely necessary to get the results. We have patients who look absolutely normal only one week after the operation. There is another reason for these quick recoveries. Dr Rafizadeh is one of the few to perform 90% of his facelift and eyelifts as well brow lifts under local anesthesia with conscious sedation that is administered under his direct orders by a specialized, certified nurse in an accredited surgery center or the hospital. By controlling the amounts of sedation that the patient receives, he can have a more cooperative patient and less incidence of nausea and vomiting. The patients are comfortable and can have something to eat or drink immediately after the surgery. If the patient wants to get a deeper sedation or a general anesthetic we obviously accommodate them but we have noticed that the recovery on those patient is normal but longer.
