What’s new in anti aging and what is scientifically proven to work?

This past Saturday at the New York a Regional Society of Plastic Surgery spring meeting I saw Ivona Percec, M.D., PhD Assistant Professor of Surgery Division of Plastic Surgery, Hospital of the University of Penn who presented the results of the latest research about anti aging medicine. This is an exciting area of research. The pharmaceutical and the nutroceutical industry is all over it. Many drugs and supplements are available or in the pipeline. The only thing that has a conclusive evidence behind it is that reduced caloric intake, releases the substances called Sirtuins (1-7) that have a positive effect on lifespan and more importantly health span which is the period of life one is healthy. The other is the effect of Resveratrol from grapes or wine. So in conclusion if you want to be healthy and live longer. Reduce your caloric intake and loose your belly fat. Eat a lot of fruits and vegetables.
