There is a gel on the horizon which is botulinum toxin based and is presently part of a phase 2 trial. 90 % of patients showed a favorable result as compared to 28% in the placebo group. This study was done in 90 patients with the objective of correcting crows feet and the results lasted 4 months.

A second study of 180 patients didn’t produce the same results; only 40% responded favorably. However, this is still promising news. A phase 3 trial still needs to be completed and we still can’t predict many details, such as costs.
