Body Procedures FAQ Morristown New Jersey Q: Tummy Tuck to Remove Stretch Marks Above Belly Button?
I’m 23 and I have stretch marks from my lower abdomen up to my breasts from being overweight. Will a Tummy tuck get rid of the upper abdomen stretch marks?
A: The skin that is discarded is the skin below the belly button. If your stretch marks are immediately above your BB, they will end up above the pubic bone and could be partially covered by the underwear. The tightness of the skin however makes the stretch marks less visible.
Q: I am 19 Years Old – Am I Too Young for a Tummy Tuck?
I’m 19 years old… Have had one baby and do not plan on having any more kids. I’m considering having a tummy tuck because of all the loose skin that is still there. I’m really not happy with my stomach right now and want it gone. I have tried exercising and dieting for 2 years now but nothing is changed. Am I too young to get a tummy tuck?
A: You can have a tummy tuck, if you are jugged to be a good candidate by a competent plastic surgeon. You are too young to have a tummy tuck but at age 19th you are also too young to have a stretched abdomen which you find unattractive. Your abdomen will stretch after another pregnancy. Make sure that you don’t want to have another child in the near future.
Q: Am I a Good Candidate for a Mini Tuck?
I hate the pouch that my hysterectomy left – the scar is not so bad. With age and weight up and down (though never a heavy person) I have loose skin as well. Would I be a good candidate for a mini? What are my other options? I am so very self-conscious and embarrassed with the way I look.
A: Mini or standard abdominoplasty?
The mini tuck with full abdominal liposuction could give you acceptable results, but you may still have some excess skin laxity above your bellybutton. The full abdominoplasty combined with liposuction could correct the laxity of your abdominal muscles, the excess skin and the excess fat. This would be my first choice. The mini-tuck is good for people who only have excess skin under the bellybutton area.
Q: What is a Lipoabdominoplasty?
I went for a consultation and the plastic surgeon told me that I need a Lipoabdominoplasty. How is this different from the standard procedure?
A: Lipoabdominoplasty?
This is a combination of liposuction suction and abdominoplasty (see my pictures) the excess fat is remove from your abdomen and hips by liposuction. The skin is mobilized only in the middle of your belly, the muscle layers are tightened and all excess skin is removed below the bellybutton. The results can be amazing. You need to find the right surgeon to do this.
Q: What is a One-hour Facelift?
I’ve heard about a “one hour face lift” but I don’t know how effective it is or what it involves…is it surgery? What sort of facelift is this and is it as good as a “traditional” facelift?
A: One hour facelift, be careful.
Some time I feel bad for patients today, because with all the marketing and media involvement in everything that concerns plastic surgery the public is totally confused. There is no question that a lesser procedure with a faster recovery is appealing to everyone. So a lot of lesser surgeons or even non surgeons are exploiting it for their own benefit. There is a lot of quackery out there. You need to do your home work and always get a consultation with a real plastic surgeon when it comes to your face and beauty. I have 28 year of experience in facelift procedure and I am at the peek of my ability. I must say that the shortest facelift that I do, takes two hours. You can’t do an effective facelift in one hour.
Q: Is It Common to Use Local Anesthesia for Brachioplasty Revision?
I had a Brachioplasty (Arm Lift) done in early 2009. The surgeon and I agreed that a revision would be a good idea to remove the remaining excess hanging skin. He has suggested doing this in his office with local anesthesia…I will be awake. Yikes..
Is it routine to do such a procedure in an office (not a surgery center) with only a local? I think if I see him cutting my arm flesh off I’ll pass out! Has anyone removed excess skin all the way along the length of both arms in an office with just a local? Thanks for your input!
A: Revision of brachioplsty in the office.
This kind of procedure can be done in the office under local anesthesia but if you think that mentally you could not tolerate it, you would need to be sedated. Depending on the equipment and the facilities this could also be done in the office.
Q: Do I Need a Tummy Tuck or Will Lipo Be Enough
I have had two kids. I am confused about needing a full tummy tuck or liposuction. I do not have stretch marks but I have fat hanging on my belly. Will liposuction of the stomach and love handles work for me?
A: Tommy tuck or liposuction
The picture shows that you have excess skin but the skin has good quality. I would say it depends on what kind of results you are looking for. A tummy tuck which in your case should be combined with liposuction.(lipoabdominoplasty) will eliminate the excess skin and fat. It will provide you with t tightness of the abdominal wall and you will not have folding of the skin even in the sitting position. With liposuction you will eliminate the excess fat but you may feel some irregularities and when you sit the excess skin will fold. It is really a compromise. I will advise patients like yourself to get a lipoabdominoplsty for a superior result.
